Job Description

A Back Office Support handles authorization requests for customers or patients. They work with the billing team and staff members to ensure that the number of authorizations is up-to-date and sufficient. Moreover, they work with the admission team and staff members to ensure all files are complete and signed off. They are also responsible for updating the insurance file of patients electronically and updating the physician’s information in the system. Lastly, they ensure that all patient accounts with balances are reviewed, transferred, and posted accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Handles the initial verification of insurance benefits for customers/patients.
  • Handles authorization submissions and follow-ups for all insurance payors assigned.
  • Regularly requests authorization via fax, portal, or call.
  • Documents case status, actions, and outcome of the authorization requests
  • Regularly calls insurance companies to follow up on pending account balances of the patient.
  • Keeps patient’s records and company information confidential.
  • Updates patient insurance and demographic information as needed.
  • Regularly answer incoming calls received regarding insurance concerns.
  • Regularly review different portals to ensure licenses and other physician information are correct and up to date.
  • Regularly review documents to ensure that all are attached to the patient and it has been signed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Any course related to healthcare or business/administration
  • Good communication skills
  • A keen observer and attention to detail
  • Computer literate, mainly in Microsoft Office apps
  • Preferably with a financial or healthcare BPO background
